Church Leadership Center Today is Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. It is my practice on this day each year to listen to his “I Have a Dream” speech. You are invited to join me by clicking here. I also like to reflect on some of his quotes. May you do so as well and pass on the message of love, justice, equality, and freedom. I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character. A man who won't die for something is not fit to live. A genuine leader is not a searcher for consensus but a molder of consensus. I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear. I just want to do God's will. And he's allowed me to go to the mountain. And I've looked over, and I've seen the Promised Land! I may not get there with you, but I want you to know tonight that we as a people will get to the Promised Land. When we let freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual, "Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!" CLC offers processes and resources for the development of church leaders in diverse contexts and ethnicities.
